A tragic hit-and-run crash on Interstate 24 has claimed the life of a Tennessee motorcyclist, leaving family members, friends, and the broader Murfreesboro community mourning a devastating loss while authorities continue searching for the driver responsible.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, near the split where Interstate 24 westbound connects with Interstate 59 southbound. Troopers responded to reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and quickly arrived at the scene to begin an investigation and assist emergency responders.
Preliminary findings indicate that a red or brown sedan struck the right side of a motorcycle being operated by 35-year-old Nicholas Daley of Murfreesboro. Investigators believe the impact forced the motorcycle off the roadway and into the left shoulder and median area. Authorities say the driver of the sedan continued traveling westbound on Interstate 24 without stopping to render aid or report the crash.
After being forced from the roadway, Daley’s motorcycle reportedly collided with the end of a guardrail, resulting in a catastrophic crash. Emergency personnel worked rapidly to provide medical assistance before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite extensive efforts by healthcare professionals, Daley later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions throughout the evening as law enforcement officers, emergency crews, and investigators processed the scene. Multiple lanes were temporarily closed, leading to lengthy delays and congestion for motorists traveling through the interstate corridor.
Authorities have released only limited information about the vehicle involved, describing it as a red or brown sedan. Investigators are actively seeking additional evidence, including witness statements, surveillance footage, and any available dash-camera recordings that may help identify the driver.
The case has intensified concerns about hit-and-run incidents, which continue to present serious challenges for law enforcement agencies nationwide. Traffic safety advocates note that remaining at the scene of a crash is both a legal obligation and a critical factor in ensuring injured victims receive immediate assistance.
As investigators continue their search for answers, friends and loved ones are remembering Nicholas Daley as a cherished family member and friend whose life ended far too soon. His death has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, while the ongoing investigation seeks accountability and justice.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact the Georgia State Patrol as the investigation remains active.
